MOLASSES
MOLASSES
Sugarcane molasses is a powerful and versatile product within the fish food industry, but often overlooked. This thick, black syrup originates from the sugar processing industry and offers a number of benefits for use in baits and feed mixes.
Molasses is naturally sweet and rich in vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and manganese, which have a positive effect on the digestion of fish. In particular, sugar cane molasses is a better choice than sugar beet molasses due to the greater variety of sugars present, which is also a key ingredient in the production of rum.
The use of molasses has a wide range of applications, such as in:
- Groundbait
- Soaks
- Sticks
- Bag mixes
It can also be used to coat or soak baits for improved bait acceptance. Due to its high sugar content, molasses is a highly attractive attractant that is highly soluble in water. However, the heavier liquid stays low to the bottom, which provides long lasting attraction for fish. It is also PVA friendly , meaning it can be used in PVA bags and stick mixes without them dissolving.
